DUO uses the personal information that you submit to fulfil its legal duties in accordance with the provisions of the Personal Data Protection Act.
Information received via other bodies
DUO also receives personal information via other bodies. Municipalities send us your personal details, the Tax and Customs Administration provides us with any relevant income information and your study details are provided by your educational institution. If necessary, DUO may also ask your parents or partner for information. We use this information for the purposes described above.
Checks by DUODUO may check the accuracy of the following information with other bodies:
- your income details with the Tax and Customs Administration
- your study details with your educational institution

Checks by other bodies
Other bodies, such as the department of Social Affairs and Employment, the Tax and Customs Administration and the Social Insurance Bank, may request details from DUO in accordance with their own legal duties, for example to check whether someone is entitled to social security benefit or child benefit. In addition, the Justice Department may request information from DUO in relation to a criminal investigation. DUO will assess each request against the relevant legal provisions.
