More students are eligible for a supplementary grant. Higher professional education (HBO) and university students can now apply for a supplementary grant if their parents earn up to approximately €70,000. In the past it was €53,900. Your supplementary grant is a performance-related grant and will be converted to a gift if you obtain your degree within 10 years.
- The degree programme you are enrolled in entitles you to a student grant.
- You are still entitled to the performance-related grant. You can check this in Mijn DUO.
From 2024 onwards
The new income limit for the supplementary grant comes into effect from the 2024 calendar year. In 2024, we look at your parents’ income in 2022. If their income decreases by at least 15% in 2023 or 2024, we can use a more recent income year for our calculation. In that case, the normal rules for a fall in income apply.
Amount of the supplementary grant
The amount of the supplementary grant for 2024 will be made known in October 2023. From 1 September 2023, the supplementary grant has been set at a maximum of €416 per month. The higher the parental income, the lower the supplementary grant.
Have you already applied for a supplementary grant? Then you don’t need to do anything. When calculating the supplementary grant for 2024, we will automatically take the higher income limit into account. You will be notified in October 2023 about the supplementary grant for 2024.
Don’t miss out on money
Always apply for the supplementary grant, so you don’t miss out on any money. We will calculate for you if you are entitled to it.
