Reimbursement additional travel expenses
Sometimes public transport won't meet your needs. For example, if you cannot get to your school or work placement on time using public transport. Or if it is too late for you to get home in the evening. In such cases, check whether you can get reimbursement of the additional travel expenses.
Ferry
If you have to take a ferry to get to your place of study or work placement, you can usually get these expenses reimbursed if you spend at least €30.00 per month on the ferry. This is based on the foot passenger fare.
Applying for reimbursement of ferry fares
- Fill in the 'Application Reimbursement of additional travel expenses with the student travel product' form. Your school will also have to complete a section.
- Make a scan or take a clear photo of the form. The scan or photo must be uploaded in My DUO.
- Log in to Mijn DUO. Go to 'Mijn producten' and click on 'Studiefinanciering' or 'Reisproduct onder de 18'.
- Under 'Extra reiskostenvergoeding' click on 'Aanvragen'.
Medical circumstances
