Eligibility

Whether you qualify for student finance depends on your age, course/programme and nationality.

The conditions

You are entitled to student finance if you meet the following conditions:

• You are under 30 when your student finance takes effect;
• You are registered for full-time vocational education (MBO BOL) of at least 1 year or you are registered for full-time or dual education at HBO (university of applied sciences) or university of at least 1 year;
• You are a Dutch national.
• If you are enrolled in an MBO programme, you need to be at least 18 years old to qualify for a grant or apply for a student loan. You are eligible for a student travel product even if you are not yet 18, however. No minimum age applies to HBO and university students.

If you don’t meet the nationality requirement, please contact DUO. You may still be entitled to student finance.
