Increasing your monthly instalments
Conditions for increasing your monthly instalments:
- You are already making mandatory repayments.
- You pay by direct debit.
- You have no arrears.
How to increase in your monthly instalments
- Log in to Mijn DUO.
- Go to 'Mijn schulden'.
- Under 'Meer betalen', click 'Verhogen maandbedrag'.
You can use your DigiD outside the Netherlands to log in to Mijn DUO.
If you have no access to Mijn DUO, use the 'Changes student loan repayment' form.
Start date
You start paying the higher amount from the month following your request.
Change or stop increased instalments
You can also use Mijn DUO to end increased monthly instalments or to change the extra amount you pay. All changes take effect from the following month.
Direct debit failure
If a payment by direct debit fails, you only receive a request to pay the required monthly instalment – not the additional amount you have opted to repay. The increased instalment is also cancelled automatically, so that you revert to paying the required amount only. If you wish, you can reinstate increased instalments in Mijn DUO.
